As I was documenting this adorable duck lips face Abbey makes when she tries to drink from a straw (it's amazing right? Those lips? My my) when Zach came home. Before he even announced that he was home she saw him.
She just loves Zach. She can be in a rotten mood and he makes everything better. I just love how her face lights up when she sees him.
As for us. I decided to learn to crochet. I really wanted to learn so that I didn't have to pay $80 for a baby cocoon. I still haven't made one, but have made some pretties for Abbey.
They are kind of addicting. I almost couldn't stop myself.
Almost.
So I decided to move onto something else and started an afghan inspired by THIS. (Have you seen this website? It makes me want to live in the country in England, her home is lovely, her life seems lovely, a breath of fresh air!) I'm pretty excited about it, but it will probably take a lifetime to make. Especially since I'm notorious for starting projects and not finishing, but I have goals, lofty goals, to put that bad habit to bed.
Other projects that are on my to do list:
Paint both bathroom cabinets and kitchen cabinets. (Did you know that maple yellows? It's true, and ugly.)
Laundry room: wall paper 1 wall and fancy up, put in new cabinets and countertop.
Make this wreath, but maybe a more springy color. This one is made of almonds, any idea of something that would have the same cool look but be 100% cheaper?

And other things. I really want to paint everything. I'm driving Zach nuts. We've been in our house 6 years now and I look at my living room and just think "Ugh, this was so 5 years ago." I need a change :) I think I want it all to be lighter and brighter. I feel like it doesn't reflect who I am anymore. Anyway, all changes will be posted, I can hardly wait.
Have you seen the movie Can't Hardly Wait? I heart Ethan Embry.
I am so excited that summer is nearing. I'm itching to be at Bear Lake. I can't wait to take Abbey. It's been so nice to be able to actually leave our house and go outside. I'm so excited for her to explore this spring and see the world. Yea summer! Come quicker!!!

darling cute little duck lips abbey! and yes, those pretties are addicting...which is why, i'm sure, that moms end up making their own. good thing these weren't available when makenna was little! and i love the wreath but as far as ideas go, well, you got me. my creativity and craftiness are nil. sorry. good luck with your upcoming projects!
This post made me giggle several times. Thanks for being so great these past 2 months. I really want to come and visit once our "vacations" are over with. I want to see your crochet work & maybe steal some ;) Abbey is getting bigger by the second it seems and I feel like I'm missing out. I'm always inspired by your housing projects. If you want, you can bring that drive to my house. We actually NEED things painted and have lost all desire.
PS - I love that movie.
You have a very cute little girl! Have you tried the Knifty Knitter? Youi can easily make a coccoon in a few hours with very little skill involved! Just make a hat a lot longer but follow the same instructions. When I taught school we did it as a fast finisher in third grade. Third graders were pros at it and so I am sure you would be, too. Use a 40 percent off coupon at JoAnn's or Michaels and the set it really affordable. They also have a flower maker, but you are already a pro at that. Good luck!

I wrote a comment, did you get it? I think I deleted it.
Your little girl is so cute!
Have you tried the Knifty Knitter? It is very easy. My 3rd graders were pros at it when I taught school, we used it to develop fine motor skills. If you follow the hat instructions and just make it longer, you will have a coccoon in a few hours or less with very little skill.
The set is very affordable if you use a 40 percent off coupon at Michaels or JoAnns. Good luck!
When I was in the theater to see Can't Hardly Wait someone a fe rows back said "I can't hardly wait to see this movie." We threw popcorn at him.
She is perfectly lovely. I am so thrilled for you. I LOVE the crochet flowers. I am going to have to pick up crochet to make some :) Once again....SO DARLING!

I loved reading this. And I loved seeing you the other day. And I love Abbey.
Your flowers are amazing- good job! I love the pics of Abbey- so cute. You're right, your kitchen is so 5 years ago, it totally needs to be changed ;)
seriously, she is a doll! love those puckery lips :)
I'm a becky higgins reader + I just thought of an idea for a cheaper (kind of) idea for the wreath...I thought after you use some pistachios in recipes or snacking you could then save and use the shells?! I thought this was such a great looking wreath...love the blue you picked, I'm going to give it a try! Thanks for the post. I just started learning to crochet + I have a photography business, LDS mommy too! Funny.
