On the 24th of July Zach and I picked up dinner for us and his mom. It was delicious, but that's beside the point. The next day when I went to lunch I couldn't find my debit card. I got a little panicked, but figured Zach must have put it back into his wallet out of habit. So I took lunch home, but still didn't feel very good about not being able to find my card. When I got home I checked my bank account online and everything looked a-okay. Then I went into the kitchen and noticed I had messages. It was my bank's Visa department wanting to know if I'd spent $778.73 the night before.
My heart sunk.
NO! I did not spend $778.73! What the crap. So I called and reported it lost/stolen. I knew the last time we'd used it was at dinner the night before. I guess we didn't get it back. (obviously.) So after a lot of crap with my bank I finally got my money back which was a relief so don't worry there. (Although they said it wouldn't come out of my checking and it did. Liars.) But that's beside the point. When I realized that someone from the restaurant probably took the card and used it I called this restaurant to let them know they had a criminal working for them. She took my complaint and said she'd research it and call me back. She called back and let me know that I was at the drive-thru at 6:12 pm and that no one reported that a card was left.
Seriously.
I explained to her that obviously whoever took it was not going to fess up to taking it and she should look at the tape. She again explained to me that she had asked everyone and that no one reported it left and there was nothing more she could do.
So I contacted said restaurant's HQ. I told them I would never eat at their restaurants again unless someone got fired. After that I was contacted by their regional manager over our area. He got all the info from me and then last night I got an email from him that said:
"Jennie-Will you please call me. I want to discuss my findings with you. 555-555-5555"
I called him this morning and he apologized. I was right. I knew I was right and now there was video to prove it. Ms. Drive-thru worker took our order, took our card, ran it through the card reader and set it to the side. Then Mr. ASSISTANT MANAGER came by as Ms. Drive Thru went to get drinks and flicked my card under the register to which he returned later, retrieved my card and put it in his pocket.
Mr. Assistant Manager asked the regional Manager to tell me how sorry he was. We both had a good laugh over that. Then RM told me that he'd been fired. YEA!
I've filed a police report and it's all being investigated.
Mr. EX Assistant Manager, be afraid, be very afraid.
I feel like a detective :) Another crime solved! (okay so it was my first.)

I love it when justice is served! Crappy crap-head Asst. Mgr! Duhhhhh! Loser! Hahahahaha!
Okay, I guess I will stop there.
Good work detective Jennie.
By the way, which restaraunt? Curious.
good for you! I'm glad you stuck to your guns
Holy mackerel. That is insane!
Holy COW! I'm glad you worked that out...don't you hate that people can do such bad things?
That is awesome- not that your card got stolen, but that you helped catch the thief. Way to be persistent!
SWEET! I'm so glad they caught the guy, wonder how many other problems there had been? Hopefully it was a one time thing!
Love the bridal and wedding pics! I especially like the one with mostly scenery w/ the couple in the corner. Such a great job!
Wow, good for you! I don't know if I would have had the guts to go as far as you... Proud of you!!
I still can't believe this. I'm glad they have one less employee though, that's ridiculous!
You're right, you did blog about it. And to think, I doubted you last friday?
What a frustruating experience. I'm so glad you called HQ and that the regional mgr took you seriously. What a dumb thief! I'm constantly amazed at the idiocy of criminals.
